COVID-19

COVID-19 is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. It was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has since led to a global pandemic. The disease primarily spreads through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and loss of taste or smell. Severe cases may lead to pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and can result in death, particularly among older adults and individuals with underlying health conditions. Public health measures to control the spread of COVID-19 have included social distancing, wearing masks, and vaccination campaigns. Vaccines have been developed and distributed globally to help combat the spread of the virus and reduce the severity of the disease.
